Please welcome Molly Wakeling to the Astronomy magazine team. Molly will be taking over our popular “Observing Basics” column, featuring observing, astroimaging, hobby tips, and techniques stories, among other features. Her first column will appear in the August 2023 issue.

Molly is a Ph.D. student in nuclear engineering and became a dedicated astroimager in 2015 after receiving her first telescope. She now has four astroimaging rigs in her backyard, including one dedicated to variable stars. Molly is actively involved in STEM outreach, is an Ambassador for the American Association of Variable Star Observers and for the Explore Alliance, in addition to being a panelist and broadcaster for The Astro Imaging Channel on YouTube.

Molly succeeds Glenn Chaple, who retires from his writing of the column after many years. Glenn first started writing for David Eicher’s publication Deep Sky Monthly in 1978, and has been a contributor to Astronomy for several decades.

Welcome, Molly!

— David J. Eicher, Editor
